Pomerape
It's the twin next to the Parinacota

Pomerape lies in Sajama National Park and, together with Parinacota, forms the Payachatas (The Twins). It has a less conventional "volcano" shape than its twin but offers a more technical ascent. That being said, the "standard" route we normally suggest is perfectly achievable for a fit, acclimatised group.
The first successful summit of Pomerape was completed by a Bolivian team: Rene Zalles and Edmundo Garcia.
We drive from La Paz across the flat desert-like Altiplano, stopping en route to explore ruins and tombs from the Chipayas culture. We leave our luggage in Sajama town and go for a short acclimatisation walk before dinner and bed.
We start early and take a 4WD for 1 hour to Pomerape’s base. The route starts on mixed terrain (sand and volcanic rock) and then joins the glacier. From this point on we have incredible views across the Chilean border. Having reached the summit (6282m) we return to the car by the same track and drive to the nearby hot springs for a well-deserved rest and soak.
After breakfast we head to the nearby geysers for short walk and then drive back to La Paz.
