A HIDDEN MOUNTAIN
Mytical Mountain in the middle of the Royal Range
Mytical Mountain in the middle of the Royal Range
Chearoco 6,127m. This mountain is located to the north of
Chachacomaní, very little visited, the cleanest access is from the southwest
face, using the Kellhuani valley as access.
chearoco is a beautiful peak that looks much impressive close than it does from the Altiplano. It can be accessed from the west and east, with the western access via the Kelluani Valley being the quickest.
It is also possible to do a combined expedition of
Chachacomani and Chearoco in a 7-day itinerary, really a challenge to visit
these two lonely mountains in the middle of the mountain range.
This route has been avoided for years due to reports of foreigners having difficulties with locals, but it is now safe.
Departure from the city of La Paz by private transport to Kellhuani valley (4,650 meters) And then start our walk 3 to 4 hours at base camp (jankho khota lagoon 4,760 meters) with the help of animal transport (mules).
After a good breakfast, we organize our equipment (the porters will help us this day) to start walking between moraine and rock for 2 to 3 hours until we reach the high camp 5,100m. where we set up our tents on the edge of the glacier, this is an excellent place for a beautiful view of the massif
Our day begins at midnight, we prepare a basic breakfast and our equipment and we begin!!! The traverse over the glacier is long until reaching the area of cracks with progressive inclinations of 45 to 65 degrees maximum. It is necessary to mention that this mountain is little visited and the conditions change constantly as well as its route. We reach the summit after 6 or 7 hours later, we return by the same route to our high camp, our team of porters will be ready to continue the descent to the base camp, it is a long day but very profitable.
This day is relaxed, after a good breakfast we prepare our equipment and return through the Kellhuani valley to our transport to return to the city of La Paz.
