Tour Summary
Once home to the world’s highest ski resort and Bolivia's only official ski slope, Chacaltaya (5,420m / 17,700 ft) holds a legendary status in the Andes. While climate change has melted the glacier, this iconic site remains a must-visit destination. Located just 90 minutes from La Paz, it offers jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Cordillera Real and Huayna Potosí, making it the ultimate warm-up hike and a paradise for photography enthusiasts.
CHACALTAYA FULL DAY
What was once the only official ski slope in Bolivia and the highest in the world has been taken out of action by global warming. Nevertheless, Chacaltaya (5,420m) still provides stunning views of La Paz and its surrounding mountains. It is only 90 minutes from La Paz and provides an ideal 1 hour acclimatisation hike and photography session.
