Chacaltaya is the only official track of ski in Bolivia, but by climate change and pollution of the city of La Paz track stopped working for quite some time, even so it is possible to find fresh snow in some months of the year is a very good acclimatization walk by its easy access and close proximity to the city of La Paz.
CHACALTAYA FULL DAY
What was once the only official ski slope in Bolivia and the highest in the world has been taken out of action by global warming. Nevertheless, Chacaltaya (5,420m) still provides stunning views of La Paz and its surrounding mountains. It is only 90 minutes from La Paz and provides an ideal 1 hour acclimatisation hike and photography session.
