FAQ

(FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

Do you have a question, not in our webpage? Just send us a message and we will be happy to respond as soon as we can.

What is the best time of the year to visit the Bolivian mountains?

From May to October we have the coldest temperatures but our skies are clear that time of the year. Ideal to those wishing to do mountaineering.

During the months of March, April and November weather is very unpredictable but it is still possible to climb some of them such as Huayna Potosi and those in the Western Cordillera.

Should altitude be a concern?

The lower atmospheric pressure and low oxygen levels in the air affect our body in different ways when we are at high altitudes.

Although the city of La Paz is at 3625m. The majority of our programs take place in areas at high to very high elevations such as Laguna CHIAR KHOTA at 4600m and Sajama´s summit at 6450m with anything ranging in between.

We recommend spending 5 to 7 days acclimatizing. This can be done through multiple activities such as slowly paced walks in the city and altitude variable hikes.

Do I need any previous experience to join your mountaineering programs?

Bolivia´s has a wide range of options for all levels of difficulty when it comes to mountaineering. If you´ve never had any previous exposure to it, our guides are happy to teach you the necessary skills and techniques so that you could reach a proper summit safely.

What type of gear/equipment do I need to join your mountaineering programs?

Do not worry if you don’t have the nessesary gear, “Bolivian Mountaineering” will provide you with the best quality equipment for our expeditions.

DO THE GUIDES SPEAK ENGLISH?

All of our trekking and mountain guides have some basic level of English necessary to the execution of our programs. Nevertheless, our guides who are fluent in English are highly requested so we recommend to book in advance if you want to have one for your program.

HOW LONG IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK A PROGRAM?

We count with a limited number of personnel in our agency. We do not improvise by hiring last minute guides like other agencies. That´s why we will give preference to groups who have booked ahead of others. Therefore, we recommend to book as soon as you can once you know your schedule.

PAYMENT METHOD

To confirm your reservation you must deposit 50% of the total value of the program (itinerary) does not include additional transfer costs. The remaining 50% can be paid directly at our agency's office at a scheduled meeting before the start of the tour.
